The Process of Change is the Ultimate “Atom” of the Ancient Greeks
Before my years of Osteopathic training, I was intrigued by and studied the fields of Alchemy, Shamanism and Indigenous Awareness. During my early years of Osteopathic practice I continued these studies in the hopes that I could incorporate those ideas into my work with others. However, I found that it was important that I dig deeply into my chosen field of Osteopathy to “mine the gold” that was contained therein. It was a very rewarding time of personal growth and seeing the fruits of Osteopathic work as it brought many people to an increased level of Health.
After 30 years of Osteopathic work I find myself coming back to deepen my studies in Alchemy. There are seven basic Principles contained within the Alchemical view of the Cosmos, the first Principle states that: The ALL is Mind. The Universe is Mental. The ALL being the substantial reality underlying all outward manifestations- i.e All Phenomena of Life, Matter and Energy. All that manifests in our Universe is simply a Mental Creation (thought) of A Universal, Infinite, Living Mind. We are therefore each a manifestation of a thought.
My work now is to help the individual come into perceptual relationship with the “Thought” that is underlying each person. It exists beyond Health. in the realm of pure Spirit. The thought being transported into a substance we call Protoplasm (first substance) which then creates the original matrix. (The Protoplasm, infused with Thought, manifests the “Me” into form) The role of the Alchemist in this process is to acknowledge and guide the individual back to their origin. (“Health is the emergence of originality” – James Jealous D.O)
My journey into the Landscape mapped out by the Alchemists through the ages was also informed by my exploration in Osteopathy, Shamanism, Indigenous Awareness and Qi Gong. I am deeply grateful to be able to stand on the shoulders of my teachers and those who blazed the trails in these realms. Their work opened me up to dig further. (A.T.Still MD, founder of Osteopathy, said “D.O. means Dig On”). These “diggings” informed me to provide continuing service to my community in the work I now call Experiential Alchemy.
